The second cross-Strait business delegation, organized by the Association of Economy and Trade across Taiwan Straits (AETATS) under the Ministry of Commerce, has successfully finished its business activities in Taiwan.
The 143 members of the delegation are from 74 enterprises over 15 provinces in the mainland. The enterprises are mainly large logistics enterprises including Wangfujing Department Store Group, Shanghai Bailian Group, Tianjin Materials and Equipment Group, Wuhan Zhongbai Group, Hefei Department Store Group, etc., aiming to purchase food, farm produce, daily necessities, handicrafts and other commodities with Taiwan feature. Head of the delegation is Ms Men Xiaowei, Special Councilor of AETATS and Vice Director General of the Department of Commercial Services Administration, Ministry of Commerce.
During its visit in Taiwan, the delegation held all kinds of trade and economic promotion and exchange activities in Taipei, Yunlin, Tainan and other regions. The focuses are the two fairs of production-sale business matching in Taipei and Tainan, where 1174 negotiations were conducted between the 743 Taiwanese enterprises and mainland enterprises in the delegation. Through the negotiations, the enterprises from the two sides signed 146 million U.S. dollars worth of contracts, 600 million U.S. dollars worth of agreements of intent, with the total reaching 746 million U.S. dollars.
The fruitful result of the business inspection is not only demonstrated by the figures, but will be seen in the future cross-Strait economic and trade exchanges: on the one hand, it raised the reputation of Taiwanese enterprises and quality products in the Chinese mainland market, opening long-term and steady sale channels for Taiwan commodity entering the mainland; on the other hand, it promoted the understanding between the cross-Straits enterprises, creating more opportunities for their long-term and comprehensive cooperation. |
