Functions

To formulate and implement trade and economic plans and policies concerning Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) and the Taiwan region; to take the lead in trade and economic consultations with the relevant departments in HKSAR and MSAR and authorized agencies in the Taiwan region; to work together with relevant departments in the consultations and implementation of CEPAs with HKSAR and MSAR; to coordinate the handling of major issues on the trade and economic front with Taiwan, and to draft plans on direct link in trade with Taiwan; to take the lead in handling issues involving Taiwan in the field of multilateral and bilateral trade and economic cooperation; manage and give guidance to trade with Taiwan, coordinate and manage the investment by Taiwanese business people.
